Art Tools

Hello there, I’m still new to word-press. But I’m planing to dedicate this blog to show some of my art work,  also to share with everyone what I learn as I go on.

I’m going to start by sharing some of the tools that I use and the process I make before I decide to submit my art. so I hope I’ll be able not to only help but also inspire others.

Tools that I use:

Pencils must have or at least must try. I can’t convince anyone what works for me it will work for you but most certainly must try.

I enjoy working with Mechanical pencil for sketching, just the moment I start drawing with 0.3mm and 0.5mm it just feels right. Here’s a drawing example I did with Mechanical Pencil below.

You can see for your self, you can get the smallest details with Mechanical pencil and the shading just comes out great.

Staedtler Mars Lumograph Pencils

Staedtler Pencils are really great to work with, Specially for soft gradation and soft shading.

Experiment with different color leads. I mostly use blue and red leads for sketching ideas, they really great to work with and they bring different feel to the drawing. Here’s some sketches using blue, red leads.

Pens/inks.

Manga, Set of 8

I think finding the right paper can be difficult, it took me long time to find the right one that works for me.  So I’ll be listing the best paper quality I came across, it so important to experience with different quality of paper it really makes difference in the drawing quality.

This is great for sketching is not too rough or too soft which makes it perfect for sketching.

This has heavy weight and smooth surface, this is great for pen/ color markers  artwork.

Strathmore is got to be one of the best I came across,  has smooth surface paper which feels like your pencil is sliding when sketching no pauses I would describe it. prefect for gesture drawing, the paper will give you nice continuous flow.

Last one would like to mention is borden riley paper, this is mostly for pen and makers it works great.  Decided one day to try sketching on this type of paper,  is just amazing you probably wont get the gradation effect when it comes to shading but for quick sketch is really good the flow is just amazing . Again this type of paper is meant for color markers and inking, just fun to experiment.
